This project was the first phase of the future Bond Ave which runs between the western abutment of the Tilikum Crossing Bridge/Porter St and SW River Parkway. The 1,200 foot long roadway will help create road access to new SW Waterfront buildings being built by OHSU and Zidell. As part of this project three ultra-block gravity walls totaling 1188 linear feet in length and ranging in height from 10 to 20 feet tall were constructed. 78,000 tons of imported granular fill were placed. The embankment fill was capped with a six foot surcharge which remained in place for 8 months to ensure the ground is adequately compacted for the phase 2 portion of the project which will include utility installation and road construction.
